about

lyrics

i had a time in the fame light
i was running round
never sure of the reasons
they let me in

now i'm drinking my coffee
putting pen to pad
exploring the memories
of an aging past

drenched in clothing and tabloids
drenched in perfume and wine
royal roads to award shows
of a different kind

deviled stares from the angels
fallen messengers
sailing the tails
of a fallen age

no one saw past proscenium
no one saw in my eyes
the quiet desperation
of a lonesome child

i am filling these pages
with tales such as these
should it burn or should we learn
what stories do we need

beyond the glow of a gilded town
there are stories of life
the only lenses, the eyes
of a newborn child

let us fill them with wisdom
let us fill them with love
let us be as the one
who was touched by the dove

tarry not in the graveyard
tarry not in the grave
arise from the fetters
we don't work for a wage

oh the work here is plenty
and the laborers are few
let us sweat from our souls
like the air sweats the dew
